Privacy Policy
As a Telecommunications Carrier in Japan, NTT DoCoMo, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "DoCoMo") recognizes the importance of Personal Information. To ensure that such information is fully protected, DoCoMo complies with the Telecommunications Business Law and other regulations, and publicly discloses and declares that DoCoMo will abide by this privacy policy described hereunder (hereinafter referred to as "Privacy Policy").
Use of Personal Information
DoCoMo only collects Personal Information to provide services such as telecommunications services, introduction of the products and services, implementing questionnaires, etc., and to bill charges or otherwise to conduct DoCoMo’s business when it is necessary. When collecting Personal Information, the data is always collected by lawful and fair means.

DoCoMo shall always obtain the consent of the Users (hereinafter referred to as “Users”) when collecting Personal Information from someone other than the Users. However, DoCoMo is not limited to this clause if there is a legal or other legitimate reason to do otherwise.

If DoCoMo believes that any of the following cases apply, DoCoMo may use or provide the Personal Information for a purpose other than the original purpose of data collection, with the greatest possible consideration to the rights and best interests of the Users.
1.  If the information must be used or provided in order to comply with laws or regulations;
2.  If the Users consent to DoCoMo;
3.  If the Personal Information is used internally by DoCoMo, only to the extent necessary for DoCoMo to conduct its business, and there is a legitimate reason for using that Personal Information;
4.  Besides the three cases listed above, if there is a special reason for using or providing the information, or if providing the information to a party other than the Users will clearly benefit the subject of the information;
The term “Personal Information” refers to the following types of information of the Users:
1.  Name
2.  Address
3.  Date of birth
4.  Place of employment
5.  Telephone number
6.  Sex
7.  Account numbers at financial institutions
8.  Credit card numbers
9.  Seal impressions
10.  PIN
11.  E-mail address
12.  Driver’s license number, passport number or other numbers on public documents
13.  Details of transactions with DoCoMo
14.  Other information which identifies or can identify specific individuals
When using or providing Personal Information, DoCoMo complies with the provisions in Article 4 of the Telecommunications Business Law on the protection of secrecy in telecommunications, and other relevant regulations.
Method of Managing Information
In managing Personal information, DoCoMo takes all measures necessary to prevent unlawful access to, loss or destruction of, tampering with, or disclosure of Personal Information, and to otherwise ensure appropriate management of Personal Information. In particular, DoCoMo complies with the “Safety and Reliability Guidelines for Info-communications Networks” (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Bulletin Number 73, 1987) for protecting information and preventing improper access in data communications networks, and other standards.

DoCoMo is particularly strict about managing access to databases for Personal Information. DoCoMo limits the number of authorized persons with access to databases for Personal Information, and saves access logs for a certain time, so as to ensure that there is no improper access from outside the company, as well as no improper usage within the company.

At DoCoMo, efforts are made to keep the Personal Information under management accurate and up-to-date for intended purposes.
However, if DoCoMo believes that any of the following cases apply, DoCoMo may not destroy the relevant Personal Information, even after the retention period has elapsed or the purpose of use has been achieved.
1.  If the information must be retained in order to comply with laws or regulations;
2.  If the Users consent to DoCoMo;
3.  If DoCoMo has a good reason for not destroying and retaining the relevant Personal Information for a necessary period so that DoCoMo can use it to conduct its business;
4.  Besides the three cases listed above, if there is a special reason, for not destroying the relevant information;
If DoCoMo entrusts the handling of Personal Information to a party outside the company, DoCoMo shall select a party recognized to be capable of handling Personal Information properly. Contracts for such work shall stipulate rules on maintenance and management of information in order to ensure proper management of Personal Information, as set forth in the previous section. They will include necessary measures, confidentiality and prohibition of redistribution of such data.
When DoCoMo supplies information on non-paying users to other communications carriers, or receives such information from other communications carriers, every possible measure is taken to ensure that such information is properly managed.
Disclosure and Amendment of Information
If the Users request the disclosure of their Personal Information, DoCoMo shall disclose the relevant Personal Information without delay.
If DoCoMo believes that any of the following cases apply, DoCoMo may not disclose all or part of the Personal Information relevant to the request.
1.  If doing so will significantly interfere with the conduct of DoCoMo's business;
2.  If there is a risk that disclosure will harm the life, body, assets or other best interests of the individual;
If the Users request amendment (amendment, addition or deletion) of their Personal Information, DoCoMo shall investigate the situation without delay. If DoCoMo recognizes that there is an error in the Personal Information relevant to the request, if the retention period has elapsed, or if there are any other reasons requiring amendment or other modification, then DoCoMo shall amend or otherwise modify the information without delay.

When DoCoMo supplies information on non-paying users to other communications carriers, or receives such information from other communications carriers, DoCoMo shall act in good faith to handle requests for disclosure, amendment or other modification from any Users.
