Mobile phone technology has evolved immensely in recent years. Especially in Japan where phones with new features hit the market one after the other. Phones that just came out a half a year ago are already outdated. DoCoMo has its own platform called DoJa, used for mobile applications instead of MIDP. Although MIDP is currently the worldwide standard, it often takes a long time for new features to be added. Thus, this platform cannot catch up with rapidly evolving mobile technology. Cutting edge features such as standy applications, camera features, 3D graphics, remote control, 2 dimension barcode reading, Felica contactless IC, GPS and digital TV have been implemented in the latest handsets in Japan and these features can be manipulated via applications. And so providing phone users with such intriguing mobile services has become a reality. A mobile phone is not only a tool for oral conversations and exchanging of email anymore. It has become a book, a video game system, a TV and a wallet; A necessity that its owner does not go anywhere without carrying. Since DoJa is not the worldwide standard, the amount of handsets on which it functions is somewhat limited. However, DoJa makes up for that by being a platform with which a wide variety of cutting edge features can be manipulated. To all developers out there, I invite you to try your hand at developing mobile applications a step ahead of the rest. Principal Works URL(Japanese): |
